The Prelude: Sullen, My Covenant
Can you hear it?
Restless, the cries of the Titans.
Can you feel it?
Humbled, the clouds shake to embers.
I shake at the sight of guilt in your eyes,
And the darkness that beats from your heart.
What must I do spare you from your pain?
I swear to stand,
Sullen, My Covenant, my promise to never forget you.
Wind Whirls
Can you feel it?
No, you can't
You are too numb to feel my hands on yours.
The wind whirls, and blows away the ash
Of the person you once were.
Now your cold and alone,
But never forgotten
What must I do to right the wrongs?
How can I undo the damage?
And restore you to a life once lost.
An oath, My covenant, to bestow your burden upon my shoulders.
A promise, My covenant, to restore the hope you once knew.
Wind Whirls, but i don't have the nerves to feel it.
Wind Whirls, but i don't have the lungs to breathe it.
I swear to stand, sullen, my covenant, my sacrifice for you.

Part One: The Oath
Gazing into the sunset, eyes fixed on the horizon
Feeling the time we lost tick slowly through my veins
I swore once that I would come back for her
I swore to make her pain my own
The hands of the clock quietly race along each day
Distanced by an ocean of time, He has let her slip away
No, he must hold true to the words carved on his heart
He must board his ship and return, before she falls appart
Each footstep He takes closer to the helm
Will seal the fate of his last sail
Pushing him closer to the edge, leading to his death
But still I will try, even if I'm doomed to fail
As the sun falls back and the day begins to die
The captain stands on the bow, as the stars begin to rise
The suns final burning rays of light
Fail to reflect the dark storm brewing in his somber eyes.
I know my boat of paper will not survive
But in my heart, a fire burns deep inside
To cross the Sea Of Eden, the waters deceptively calm
But in the end, how many times have our hearts let us down?
------------------------------------------------------------
Part Two: The Storm
Are you ready to die for those you love?
Are you willing to give your heart for the heart of another?
This is the last time we will lay eyes on these burned shores
Raise anchors! Batten down the hatches and set sail!
"I swear to stand, sullen, my covenant, my promise to never forget you"
He looks back to the shore, one last time
Before it finally disappears from sight
He looks forward toward the sea, and the shadow
Of the monstrous dark storm, that swallowed the stars' light
The storm, a rusty god's test of his Iron will
The fierce winds filling the air with a horrific high shrill
"This is for everything that she has had to endure
"From this moment on, my heart will fear death, no more"
But how many times has my heart let me down?
Lead Sails
Paper Boat
Glass Heart
Iron Will
With eyes shut tight, he searches for the strength
To sail into the dark tempest that looms on the horizon
Gritting his teeth the Captain shouts, make haste now!
We're changing course! Prepare to come about!
Pushing the ship further abeam of the wind
He calls to the storm
"Bring it on darkness! give me your best shot!
Don't hold anything back! Give me all that you've got!"
But how many more times will my heart let me down?
Lead Sails
Paper Boat
Glass Heart
Iron Will
---------
Part Three: The Grave
Captain! Rouge Wave off the port side!
The gods anger can be heard in the howling winds
As the great white and blue monster batters the ship
The Captain stands steadfast at the helm
A deep roar of thunder rolls across the sea
"How dare you, Captain!? How dare you mock me!
When I've brought you so far
You've forgotten that I, I above all own your stars"
A massive gust of wind sends another huge wave
Crashing down on the deck of the ship
"My darling, be strong, I love you, be brave"
He heard as he watched the deck splinter into wood chips
Is this is the last time my heart will let me down?
I can hear our last words echoing in the dark
I will remain always faithful, even if this is my grave
Reaching toward the surface, hoping she'll take my hand,
But in the haunting silence, your voice fades away
And a watery grave became all he knew
-------------------------------------
Part Four : The Advent Of the Ghost Captain
In the haunting silence...
The haunting... your voice...
Your voice fades... away...
Come back to me, come back to me
Your face is all that I want to see
No, No, this isn't the end
We have yet to match footsteps in the sand
The water has long since filled his lungs
And his heart has long since stopped
But still he chants the covenant he once swore
An oath, my covenant, to bestow your burden upon my shoulders
No, No, this isn't the end
Not even death will hold me down
Not even death will keep me from,
From reaching you
A voice from the black depths of the sea calls out
"Capetian, my captain, I can give you one last chance
To make amends where you have forgotten your past.
Become the Ghost captain of the Flying Dutchman
And I swear you will see your love once again."
Falling deeper into the sea,
The captain quickly agreed
To sell his soul for his heart to beat again
But how many more times will our hearts let us down?
----------------------------------------------------
Part Five : Black Wings On The High Seas
Captain, my captain, you are but a fool
You have willed me your soul and are now but a tool
Do my bidding, and perhaps in time
You will see the shore once more
But for now, you will spread your blackened wings
And sail these high seas with the wind at your back
Searching tirelessly for more hearts of glass
Without so much as a second look back.
--------------------------------------
Part Six : Aye Aye Captain Jack
Enemy ship off the starboard bow
Quickly now! We're gaining on her
We'll take her in her sleep
Steady! Aim! FIRE!
Yo Ho Yo Ho
It's a pirates life for me
Yo Ho Yo Ho
Fetch me the rum matey
I am the angel of death that haunts these dark waters
Raise the colors! A stone faced jolly roger
Sullen in the face of death.
Raze her to the waterline
Sit back relax and watch the blaze
Not a soul will live to tell the tale
Watch the innocent sink to Davey Jones locker
AYE AYE CAPTAIN JACK
In a blinding flash of light
The souls of the damned race skyward
A crack of thunder rings out, there be a storm a brewin'
A fierce wind batters the ship as the salt water licks at his beard
The bell tolls and he knows that his time has come
The ghosts of a haunted past creep back into memory
Sail into the maelstrom, it's time to atone for your sins boys
Yo Ho Yo Ho
It's a pirates life for me
Yo Ho Yo Ho
Fetch me the rum
He sang in his dying breath
---------------------------
Part Seven: The Hour Judgment
Captain my Captain, you've blown your last chance
You've sunk your only opportunity, for laughter, song and dance.
A tired, and decrepit soul, you are the maker of your own ruin
You are always doomed to fail when it's time to sink or swim.
Listen closely, you have but two choices
Listen not to the cries of the others voices.
Your friends weigh your heart against a feather
Or weigh your heart against your own conscience
Which, dear captain, would you rather?
So step right up, what do you say?
What is your soul worth on this fine day?
Dear Captain, your heart is heavy as iron
But now the time comes, how heavy is your mind?
If your heart sinks, or rises
will determine how you spend the nights of the rest of your life.
Alas, your heart rises like the sun over the sea
But never again will you find the comfort of sleep
The memory of the broken heart you chose to neglect
Will haunt you, like a dark storm brewing within you
That a mirror's dead surface can never reflect
And this is your punishment, suffering the painful regret
As you walk through the valley of the shadow of death
------------------------------------------------------
Part Eight: Footsteps In The Sand
Close your eyes and look inside you
Can you hear the faint whispers
That permeate the air your breathe?
Can you feel them in your very core?
Can you feel the stabs and pangs of sorrow and regret
As all they have fought and died for is lost to the sands of time?
Can you hear the gears of the rusty war machine come to a final halt?
Can you hear it's last heartbeat echo forever in the space between space?
Can you see the words and letters come together
In the shape of a winding metaphor,
Like the fierce river, that snakes it's way
Around the heart of hearts, but can never enter?
What do you find inside, when you search within yourself?
Can you see what are, and be satisfied?
Do you see what you are, and strive to be what you wish to become?
Or is it too far gone? Have you let your heart slip away?
Look to the dark sky at night and watch the stars float overhead
Look back in time to the dawn of the universe
And think about love, what does it mean?
What does it mean to love?
Twist the letters and bend the words
Find what makes it have meaning.
Search deep within it and you will find
The meaning behind pen strokes, the everlost.
The sacrifice of all that one is and can become
The only light that shines during the darkest of nights
The one true solace for a shattered heart of glass
Or the one thing that can break a heart of steel...
Old familiar figures toiled in the beaches before the valley,
The deep fissure that splits the now loveless city in two
There is no longer a connection to the ship that was board that night
No longer any emotion tied to that wooden prison
That was sunk by the dark Captain.
Slowly, carefully, a heart is drawn in the sand,
And inside two names are written, yours and mine.
The moon begins to rise, and the tide rolls up higher on the shore.
Try as you might, you cannot save the heart from the encroaching sea
You cry and scream, but every tear is shed in vain.
In the end, it will all be washed away, like footsteps in the sand...
------------------------------
Part Nine : Fading Away Forever
Captain, my captain, you have suffered enough
It's time to leave this journey behind and begin anew.
I will strip you of your black wings
And restore the hope that you once new
Never again will your heart let you down...
